We are the New York City chapter of LAMA. The Latin American Motorcycle Association (L.A.M.A) was founded in 1977 in Chicago’s notorious Humboldt Park neighborhood. From its inception L.A.M.A. was intended as a Moto-Touring club with truly Democratic ideas. A lone chapter until the first chapter was started in Miami in 1995, L.A.M.A became a National Association when the first national president was elected in 1996. In 1999 LAMA became an International Association with chapters in Puerto Rico, Mexico, U.S.A. & Cuba. Presently L.A.M.A. has additional chapters in Uruguay, Venezuela, Argentina, Spain, Australia, Nigeria, Egypt, France, Istanbul and Italy to name a few. LAMA was intended as the club of the 21st century and is a work in progress, to be continued by the flow and ideas of new members in near and far-off lands, a club without borders. We have evolved into an “International Humanist Association” and accept working people from all walks of life regardless of nationality, race, color, religion, social class, gender, age, brand of motorcycle, etc. Our belief is it's more important to be human than to be Latin, Asian, black, white, etc.! L.A.M.A. is one of the most respected clubs in the world and as a L.A.M.A. member there are doors opened to you in every city where we have chapters. To know L.A.M.A. is to visit the other chapters, especially chapters in other nations. We currently have 210 chapters in 25 countries. L.A.M.A. is recognized as one of the most active long distance riding clubs in the world. Our women (DAMAS DE LAMA) accompany us on their own motorcycles, riding X-treme distances, which most bikers find way too far and others find a challenge of endurance.
L.A.M.A. New York City was Chartered in July 1998. We
are not a MC but a family oriented Motorcycle Association, based out of The Bronx. We are a diverse group of people with a common interest; Bikes and Brotherhood. Our chapter offers fellowship, fosters diversity, and provides a common place where bikers can share their knowledge and experiences with others. We accept working people from all walks of life regardless of nationality, race, color, religion, social class, gender, age, and brand of motorcycle. We enjoy short rides rides that may last a day or a ride that will include an overnight stay in another state. Many of our members include their families, and we make every effort to involve them in our passion for motorcycles and Comradery.
Come take a ride with us an experience the Brotherhood/Sisterhood!
Those unfamiliar with the Latin American Motorcycle Association may believe the group is strictly about riding motorcycles. And while that may be its intended purpose, the international organization’s New York City chapter has proven to not only be a riding group, but a valuable asset both in The Bronx and to New York on a much larger scale. But, as a whole, our chapter takes great pride in our community. It’s not something we have to do, but it's something all our members love to do. Throughout the year, L.A.M.A. NYC participates in many "for a cause" rides; these rides include food drives, local charities as well as other community events. From working with the local American Legion, American Cancer Society, and assisting with local underserved communities, the group has made an impact. Our motto is "It's not always about bikes, but always about Family!" as a family, we’re giving back to the community.
As a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, your contribution will enable us to support our community outreach and local charities. We are very grateful for your generosity.
